The Erasmus programme is part of the European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme and has been designed to promote staff and student mobility as well as staff training opportunities throughout Europe. This mobility is designed to enhance the quality of, and reinforce, the European dimension of trans-national cooperation.
Students can study or work within another EU member state for a minimum 3 month period to a maximum of 12 months. For study placements a bilateral agreement is required between Higher Education Institutions. Students are paid a bursary and the amount depends on the length of placement and the country visited. The bursary amount changes each year depending on the level of funding LJMU receive from the UK National Agency for Erasmus - The British Council.
