The Erasmus+ programme is the European Union's flagship educational exchange programme for higher education institutions.

It was set up with the aim of encouraging students and staff to undertake periods of work or study throughout Europe and it involves the cooperation between the universities of 33 countries. Further information about the programme can be found on the British Council website .

Through Erasmus, students are eligible to receive a grant, which comes from the European Commission in Brussels, through the UK National Agency (British Council). The amount of the grant is determined by the country of destination and the length of the period of study or work placement. The funding is a contribution towards the costs of living abroad, but will not cover all expenses incurred. It is not means-tested.

In order to access the grant you will need to complete all the compulsory Erasmus forms for each exchange you undertake.
